  Windows ME Dialup Setup
 
   
1.
  • Make sure that all of your other applications are closed.
  • Click on "Start" then "Settings" then "Control Panel".
  • Double click "Dialup Networking"
  • Double click "Make New Connection"

  • Enter "Libcom" as "The name of the computer you are dialing"
  • Make sure the modem you wish to use is selected from "Select a device"
  • Click on "Next"

  • Enter the area code of your Libcom Access Number in the box labeled "Area Code:"
  • Enter the phone number of your Libcom Access Number in the box labeled "Telephone number:"
  • Make sure that "Country code:" is set as "United States of America (1)"
  • Click on "Next"
  • Click on "Finish"

  • You should now see a new icon labeled "Libcom" in Dial-up Networking
  • Right click on the "Libcom" icon in Dial-up Networking.
  • Click on "Properties"
  • Verify that you both "Area code" and "Telephone number" correspond to your Libcom Access Number.
  • Make sure that there is a checkmark in "Use area code and Dialing Properties"
   
5.
  • Click on the "Networking" tab at the top of the window.
  • Make sure that "PPP:Internet, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME" is selected for "Type of Dialup-Server"
  • Make sure that the only box that is checked is "TCP/IP"

  • Click on the "TCP/IP Settings..." button.
  • Make sure that "Server assigned IP address" is selected.
  • Make sure that "Server assigned name server addresses" is selected.
  • Make sure that "Use IP header compression" and "Use default gateway on remote network" are both checked.
  • Click on OK
   
7.
  • Click on the "Dialing" tab
  • Make sure that "This is the default Internet connection" is checked
  • Make sure that "Always dial my default connection" is selected
  • Make sure that "Enable idle disconnect" is NOT checked
  • Make sure the "Disconnect when connection may not be needed" is NOT checked
  • Click on "OK"
  • Restart your computer and you should be ready to use Libcom Internet!
